A Housing Industry Australia (HIA) report, released during December, has found Adelaide is the highest ranked mainland capital city in terms of housing affordability.
In fact, the HIA-Commonwealth Bank Housing Affordability Index showed that Adelaide’s housing affordability had actually improved by 4.5 per cent over the latest quarter ? which is significantly higher than for any other capital city.
Based on sales reported to Australian Property Monitors, the average median house price in Adelaide for the 12 months to September 2011 was $497,000.
The report also showed that outside of Adelaide, South Australia?s non-metropolitan housing affordability improved by an impressive 6.6 per cent.
